Terms and Conditions of Use – aka.net

1. Account Creation and Eligibility

1.1 You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service.

1.2 Access to the Service may initially be granted by invitation only. If you receive an invitation, it is personal and non-transferable.

1.3 During registration, you must provide accurate, current, and complete information. Your invitation email address will serve as your permanent username and may not be modified.

1.4 You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for any activity conducted through your account.

2. Service Access and Use

2.1 The Service provides tools to create, manage, and track shortened URLs and QR codes. Additional features may include analytics, API access, and custom domain integration.

2.2 Use of certain features may require account verification or elevated access levels, which are granted solely at our discretion.

2.3 You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

3. Acceptable Use Policy

3.1 aka.net permits linking to any content that is legal under the laws applicable to you and the jurisdictions in which the content is published or accessed.

3.2 However, we reserve the absolute and unconditional right to remove, suspend, or permanently disable any shortened URL, QR code, API access, or account at any time, for any reason or for no reason at all, without notice or liability.

3.3 You may not use the Service to:

• Host or link to illegal content
• Commit fraud, abuse, harassment, or impersonation
• Distribute malware or phishing links
• Violate third-party intellectual property rights
• Circumvent paywalls or distribute pirated content

3.4 aka.net is under no obligation to retain or serve any shortened link, QR code, or associated metadata.

4. QR Code Functionality

4.1 Users may generate QR codes for their shortened links within the limits of their account and technical capabilities of the platform.

4.2 Customization features may be available to eligible users at our discretion.

4.3 QR codes are provided "as-is" and are not guaranteed to function on all devices or platforms.

5. API Access

5.1 Access to the aka.net API may require explicit authorization.

5.2 You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure. Sharing or abuse of API keys may result in revocation or suspension.

5.3 We reserve the right to throttle, rate-limit, or revoke API access at any time, without notice or refund.

6. Custom Domain Integration

6.1 Users with access to custom domain features may configure their own CNAME records pointing to aka.net infrastructure.

6.2 Domain ownership verification is required prior to activation. SSL certificates will be provisioned via an automated Certificate Authority process.

6.3 We reserve the right to deny, suspend, or revoke use of any custom domain at any time.

7. Termination

7.1 We may terminate or suspend your account at our sole discretion for any reason or no reason, with or without notice.

7.2 Upon termination, your access to the Service and associated data may be revoked immediately.

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 aka.net owns all intellectual property rights in and to the Service, including all software, branding, and backend infrastructure.

8.2 You retain ownership of URLs submitted via the Service but grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, proxy, and serve those URLs and associated metadata.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

9.1 THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

9.2 WE DISCLAIM ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING FROM USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA.

9.3 aka.net is not responsible for the content of any third-party websites linked to using our Service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless aka.net and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or liabilities (including legal fees) arising out of:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any applicable laws or third-party rights

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed under the laws of Bexar County, Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Bexar County, Texas.

12. Modifications

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will take effect upon posting to the Service. Your continued use of the Service constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.
